We are excited to announce that Student Council applications are now open for the upcoming school year! We are looking forward to building a team of student leaders who are eager to serve their school, represent their classmates, and help make St. John an even more positive and engaging place to learn.

Attached to this email you will find:

• A Student Council Information Flyer outlining each available position and the responsibilities associated with that role.
• A Student Council Application for interested students.

If your child is interested in running for a position, we kindly ask that you help them complete the application and turn it in no later than July 31st and email it to StudentCouncil@saintjohnschool.org. Please include a photo of your child when sending in their application.  The photo will be used when we announce the candidates that are in the running. No late applications will be accepted.  Once the application has been submitted, you will receive a confirmation email letting you know that your child is officially in the running. Students are then encouraged to spend the remainder of their summer preparing for elections by creating campaign flyers, speeches, posters, or other age-appropriate materials to share with their classmates once school begins. 

Election Information

• Executive Board positions will be filled through a school-wide election.
• Students in Pre-K through 1st Grade will vote as individual classrooms with guidance from their teachers.
• Classroom Advocate positions (2 per class) 2nd-5th grade: will rotate halfway through the year, allowing more students the opportunity to participate in Student Council throughout the school year.
• School Ambassador positions 4th & 5th grade. 

To encourage leadership opportunities for as many students as possible, any student elected to an Executive Board position will not be eligible to run for another Executive Board position the following school year. However, they are welcome and encouraged to continue serving their school by applying to become a Classroom Advocate or School Ambassador.

Our goal is to begin by meeting after school twice each month, with the specific day of the week to be determined once the school year begins.

We are incredibly excited to launch this program and cannot wait to see our students develop their leadership skills, confidence, teamwork, and school spirit. We encourage every child with an interest in making a positive impact on our school community to consider applying.
